Follow-up: Westblade Park, Pleasant View 5 Year Plan, and Together Jeffco
If you’ve noticed construction on Mount Vernon Road, you may have already seen the upgrades to Westblade Park going in! I ran by this week just as they were finishing up the new fence:
Tammy, our District Manager, received a grant from Jefferson for the park upgrades. Replacing the chain link fence has already gone a long way in making the park look more welcoming and natural. Next up is adding a sidewalk along Mount Vernon Road. The timeline for finishing the sidewalk depends on the weather.
Pleasant View 5-Year Plan
The metro district is working on a five-year plan to guide how it invests in our community over the next five years. This effort is just now beginning with the district staff (including the fire department) collecting their ideas for improving the community. Public input and feedback will be part of the process as well, but that hasn’t been mapped out yet.
Potential ideas that have come up so far include:
NOTE: THESE ARE NOT FINAL PLANS, just an initial brainstorm by the district
Long-time staff transition plans, like a new fire chief when Chief Malmgren retires.
Renovations to the fire station
Upgrades for parks, like adding trails, picnic areas, and replacing old sidewalks and trees
Better public engagement and support, like special events
Pleasant View is changing a lot, even since I moved here just two years ago. Regardless of how you feel about those changes, I hope we can all agree that it’s an exciting time to think about the future of our community and what we want it to look like as it grows.
Together Jeffco Planning Process
On a similar note, Jefferson County is hosting a community open house for feedback on its latest Together Jeffco project. This project updates the county’s plans for development, fire protection, transportation, emergency services, and more. Find out more about the project here:

Since we’re in unincorporated Jeffco and and not in a city, it’s especially important for our community to have input. Jeffco makes decisions on zoning and all of the other topics I mentioned above, not the Pleasant View Metro District.
I hope you can join me for the Community Open House on Thursday, March 7 at the Jefferson County building. My four-year-old will be with me, so you won’t be the only one there wrangling toddlers if you’re concerned abut that! Here is more information from the county:
Join us between 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Lookout Mountain Room at the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Building (100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden) for an open house. Spanish interpretation will be provided and children are welcome. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend. If you require reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact us at least 3 business days before the event.
I’ll post an update here after the Jeffco Together meeting. The next Pleasant View Board Meeting is March 19 at 4 p.m. See you there!
