Recap: March Pleasant View Board Meeting
No crosswalks for Mt Vernon, 2025 fire academy started, Golden Little League Opening Day
The Pleasant View Board held its regular monthly board meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18. Hopefully this recap is a helpful way for our community to stay informed!
Reminder that I’m not an employee or on the board, but I am running for the board. If you have feedback or questions, reach out at lauraforpleasantview@gmail.com.
The Short Version
The district sent designs to Jeffco for a new maintenance storage building and a new kitchen in the fire station.
Jeffco turned down installing pedestrian crosswalks on Mt Vernon Road.
The board passed several new policies that were not described to the public or firefighters attending the meeting.
2025 volunteer fire academy has started with 13 new candidates!
Golden Little League’s opening day is Saturday, April 19 at Wolf Park!
The Long Version
Pleasant View General Updates
The district is moving forward with plans to build a new parks maintenance building and to renovate the fire station. I wrote about this in my November recap, but since then, an engineering firm has created designs to submit to the county so the project continues to move forward.
The district is also updating several policies, such as the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request form and policy.
Jefferson County did unfortunately turn down the district’s idea to install pedestrian crossings on Mt Vernon Road. A silver lining is that, based on my understanding, sidewalks for Mt Vernon are part of the county’s plan, but it’s unclear exactly when that would happen. I’m working on finding out more information!
Pleasant View Park Updates
Fields are fully booked at Camp George West and demand keeps coming in, especially since Ulysses Park in Golden is closed for construction. Building rentals are already coming in, too!
It sounded like you should reach out sooner rather than later if you’d like to rent the building at Camp George West for an event. You can find more information about building rentals on the district’s website: https://www.pleasantviewmetro.org/reserve-a-park.html
Golden Little League’s opening day is April 19 at Wolf Park! The opening day ceremony starts at 9:00 a.m.
Orchard Park is getting new sprinklers to fill in some gaps in the current system. The district manager is getting bids for sidewalk repairs to the walking path. Separately, I’ll be talking to the district manager on Thursday about your feedback from my survey. If you haven’t filled it out already, you can do it now: https://forms.gle/KV45nB8v9sqAyLsh6
Pleasant View Fire Department Update
The fire department had 31 calls in March. You can read the monthly report from the county dispatch office here.
Chief Malmgren was unable to attend the meeting, but in his report said that he is still researching financing options for a new fire truck. You can read more about why the district needs a new truck in my November meeting recap.
The district administrator had several policies for the board to approve, but did not provide the policies to the public attending the meeting or describe them before the board voted to approve the policies. I hope to get more information about that and will report back!
The 2025 volunteer firefighter academy kicked off in March with 13 candidates. Pleasant View is working with Golden Gate Canyon and another smaller department to put recruits through academy, so 11 of those candidates are eligible to become Pleasant View volunteer firefighters.
If you see anyone in a red hoodie running around the station, those are the recruits working hard! Show them some love!
