Sept. Pleasant View Board Meeting Recap
Fire inspection services, trees in Camp George, and more!
The Pleasant View Board held its regular monthly board meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16. The next board meeting is October 21 at 4 p.m. and will include the draft 2026 budget! The public is always welcome so please join if you can.
The Short Version
Pleasant View has officially established fire inspection services with the City of Golden
A developer illegally cut down trees at Camp George West and will be required to replace them at their own cost
The GLO Park meeting on September 9 had about 75 people attend and about 25 provide public comment. So far, we haven’t received any updates from the state about the project.
The Long Version
Pleasant View Fire Department Updates
The fire chief confirmed that Pleasant View would pay a flat hourly rate for the City of Golden to provide fire inspection services for all new buildings and for annual inspections on existing buildings. Any missed appointment or other penalty fees are paid for by the developer, not us.
This is a great step forward for keeping our community safe! Pleasant View doesn’t have the budget to employ a full-time fire inspector, but inspectors make sure buildings are safely and properly constructed. This increases the risk of a fire happening in the first place, but also make sure firefighters are safe if responding to a fire. If a building isn’t built or maintained properly, firefighters can get trapped or miss victims.
We did not discuss the wildfire program this month as originally planned. I hope to get more information about the status of this program soon!
Pleasant View Parks Updates
Camp George West
Trees
The developer building townhouses on the west side of the park illegally cut down several mature cottonwood trees to improve the views from those houses. This is really upsetting for a number of reasons, but I was glad to see that the district manager and Jeffco Open Space (who owns the park) is already on it.
The developer will be replacing the trees at their own cost. I asked to make sure the trees aren’t getting replaced with little saplings, but there is a plan to replant as mature trees as possible. I don’t have a timeline for that yet.
GLO Park/State Housing Proposal
I recapped the community meeting about Camp George West here. Thank you so much to everyone who came and to everyone who made public comment!
Since that September 9 meeting, the state has not received any responses to its housing proposal. The deadline for responses is October 1, so I think that’s the next time I’ll have any information. Thank you for always being ready to speak up for Pleasant View!
Next Regular Board Meeting
The September board meeting was pretty quick, so that’s all I have to report back on! *BUT* the October board meeting is a really good one to attend. The district staff will present their draft 2026 budget.
The October Pleasant View Metro District board meeting is on October 21 at 4 p.m. at 955 Moss Street.
The district is mostly funded by our property tax, so this is a great time to get involved and make sure we know what the community’s priorities are! Stay tuned for more ways to make your voice heard.
